Information was available for 76 patients (98 teeth) who were diagnosed with ecr during the period from 2008 to 2018 at the university of british columbia graduate endodontics clinic. This case report describes the clinical and radiologic diagnosis (cone beam computed tomography) and treatment of external cervical resorption according to the current guidelines of the european society of endodontology.

Among the causes of external cervical resorption, it is common to mistakenly attribute it to orthodontic treatment, traumatic occlusion or even to chronic inflammatory periodontal disease Two studies reported a higher survival rate in externally repaired teeth than in internally repaired teeth. External cervical resorption is associated to dental trauma in several situations mentioned in this paper.

External cervical resorption (ecr) is a challenging and often aggressive dental pathology characterized by the progressive loss of hard dental tissues at the cervical region of teeth

Early detection and correct diagnosis are essential to preserve the structure and function of the involved tooth. Different results associated with the survival of treated invasive cervical resorption elements have been reported
