I think orihime has some sort of complex where she likes being protected by everyone around her She even says so and does anyone else get annoyed when she starts talking and then suddenly turns into a mute the moment someone asks her what she's saying? Let's ignore that orihime speed is just a normal human, the only reason she can even see the current level of fights is because plot, she gets even one shotted in the fullbring arc, her shield is plot based, it gets broken easily by anyone that tries but when it appears randomly is op as hell.
Orihime understood that ulquiorra was not emotionally developed and was a pawn of aizen and still tried to persevere with him because she knew he was trying to understand emotions/the heart.
