A spunky young orphan is taken in by a rich eccentric, much to the chagrin of the cantankerous woman who runs the orphanage. It is based on the 1924 comic strip little orphan annie by harold gray (which in turn was inspired from the poem little orphant annie by james whitcomb riley) The main cast of the 1982 film annie have taken diverse paths, with aileen quinn leaving hollywood for a career in teaching, theater, and music, now fronting her own band.
