Historically, bart operated bart express bus service between 1974 and 1997, extending transit coverage to central and eastern alameda and contra costa counties Clipper is currently accepted on muni, bart, ac transit, vta, samtrans, caltrain and golden gate transit and ferry, and will eventually be accepted on all forms of bay area public transit. These routes were discontinued following the completion of rail line extensions starting in the late 1990s.
